American highbush cranberry (not a true cranberry) can grow to over ten feet, has a three-lobed leaf with serrated edges, and produces colorful red berries. Young twigs have light reddish brown coloring and become scaly and gray over time. Leaves change from green in spring to bright red in fall. Provides habitat for birds, though they prefer not to eat the sour berries.
